Showcase project 03 · concept

A finished report directly from the field.

A custom fieldwork tool guides the worker during a visit, stores the required data even without a network connection and creates a report for the office when the job is complete.

A designed showcase concept — the views use fictional data and do not represent a client delivery.

The business problem

Work completed in the field is often entered again at the office.

Notes, photos and used materials may be scattered across messages or paper. Reporting is left until the end of the day, when details are missing and billing is delayed.
01

Information is created in the wrong place

Observations remain in notes, messages and photos on the worker’s phone.

02

The same work is entered twice

Field data is later retyped into the work order, report and billing system.

03

The office waits for completion

The job status and follow-up needs are unknown until the worker has time to report.

One connected workflow

Information is captured once and reused in every next step.

The tool is adapted to the company’s own process. It does not add another isolated app, but connects the existing field and office workflow.
01

Send the task

Work order, customer and site details appear in one place.

02

Guided capture

A checklist ensures required observations, materials and sign-offs are recorded.

03

Create the report

A consistent report is generated from the completed job without retyping.

04

Update systems

Job status, materials and billing data move into the agreed back-office systems.

Built for the real environment

Connectivity is not always reliable in the field — the work still has to continue.

A custom tool is valuable only when it fits the actual workday. A lift, basement or remote site must not prevent information from being saved.

Works temporarily offline

Incomplete work and attachments stay on the device until synchronisation succeeds.

Shows the save state

The worker knows what is stored locally and what has reached the server.

Prevents data loss

An interruption, weak signal or accidental tap does not erase entered information.

Highlights missing information

A job cannot be completed until every required item has been addressed.

Connecting the systems

The mobile view is only one part of the solution.

Behind it, integrations and automations ensure that field data reaches the right systems and starts the next steps.

What this project demonstrates

The solution is designed around the work, not the technology.

The showcase combines the worker’s day, mobile use, data structure, automation and integrations into one controlled solution.
01

User-centred workflow

The field worker sees only the information and next step relevant to the task.

02

Mobile and offline use

Touch use, changing connectivity and interruptions are accounted for in the design.

03

Automatic documentation

Captured data becomes a consistent report and triggers follow-up actions.

04

Integrations behind the scenes

Existing systems remain in use instead of rebuilding everything.

Does information get stuck between the field and the office?

Walk through one workday and find the unnecessary re-entry.

To begin, describe the path from receiving a task to reporting it. That is enough to identify what should be connected and automated.Tell me about your workflow
